Carlos Trujillo has served as the State Representative for District 116 since 2010 and has sponsored meaningful legislation to protect the lives of unborn children , modernize the unemployment compensation benefit system and promote economic growth to get South Floridians back to work. His service includes working on the Finance & Tax Committee, Economic Development and Tourism Subcommittee, Criminal Justice Subcommittee, Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee and K-20 Competitiveness Subcommittee. Carlos was selected by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Congressional Redistricting Subcommittee and the Select Committee on Government Reorganization.

Carlos was an Assistant State Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he was responsible for felony prosecution from 2007-2011. Previously, Carlos was a training attorney in the County Court Division, and also served in the Juvenile Court Division. Carlos received his law degree from The Florida State University. While attending law school he served in the Child Advocacy Clinic where he represented children in juvenile delinquency, social security disability, and special education matters. In recognition of his dedication to public service, Carlos was awarded a Pro Bono Certificate upon graduation from law school. Carlos earned his Bachelor of Science, from Spring Hill College, where he majored in International Business. At Spring Hill College, Carlos was Vice President of the Student Government Association.

Carlos is a graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and a recipient of the Miami Herald's Silver Knight Award. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Belen Jesuit Alumni Association and is a Board Member of the Miami-Dade County Criminal Justice Council.

Carlos is a member of the Florida Bar, the Cuban American Bar Association, the League of Prosecutors, the Florida Bar's Student Education and Admission to the Bar Committee.

Carlos is married to Carmen Maria Mir and has one son, Carlos Manuel Trujillo.
